Stump grinding in Anaheim that gives you the yard spot back
Sunny Gardening Service grinds stumps below grade across Anaheim and nearby cities, part of our tree service. The stump stops sprouting, the trip hazard is gone, and the spot is ready for sod, plants or concrete. Call (714) 584-9358 for a free estimate.

Why grind a stump instead of living with it
- It keeps growing. Many species around Anaheim, ficus and mulberry especially, sprout suckers from a cut stump for years. Grinding ends it.
- It invites termites and ants. A rotting stump a few feet from the house is a standing invitation in a Southern California yard.
- It blocks the plan. New sod, artificial turf or a planting bed cannot go over a stump. Every lawn project starts with the stumps out.
- It is a mower obstacle and a trip hazard, and it reads as neglect from the street, which matters on HOA streets in Anaheim Hills and Placentia.
How stump grinding works at an Anaheim house
- Measure and check the spot. Diameter, species, what is buried nearby. We locate irrigation lines before the machine starts; half of Anaheim's front yards have a sprinkler line within a foot of an old stump.
- Grind below grade. Standard is 8 to 12 inches down, deeper if something will be built or planted on the spot.
- Deal with the grindings. Hauled away, or left as mulch fill if you prefer. Backfilled with soil, the ground sits flush and ready.
- Surface roots too. Raised roots that ran toward the sidewalk can be chased and ground so the new lawn lays flat.
After a removal, or years after one, anywhere in Anaheim
Some stumps are from our own tree removals the same week; plenty are inherited, an old cut from a previous owner in a Fullerton or West Anaheim yard. Either way, once it is ground the spot usually becomes new lawn or a planting bed, and if you want a tree back we do tree planting a smarter distance from the house. Regular tree trimming keeps the rest of the yard's trees from ending up as the next stump.

Stump grinding questions we get in Anaheim
How much does stump grinding cost in Anaheim?
Price follows the diameter of the stump, how deep you need it ground, and access to the spot. A single front-yard stump is a quick visit; several stumps or a backyard with a narrow gate takes longer. We measure and give you a firm price for free.
Is it cheaper to grind a stump or remove it completely?
Grinding, almost always. Full stump removal means digging the root ball out, which tears up the yard and costs multiples of grinding. Ground 8 to 12 inches below grade, the spot takes sod, plants or a paver path with no sign a tree was there.
How long does it take?
Most residential stumps in Anaheim are done within the hour once the machine is on the spot. Wide or hardwood stumps take longer.
Can I plant a new tree where the old stump was?
Yes, once the grindings are cleared and the hole is backfilled with soil. We usually shift a new tree a few feet off the old spot so it roots into fresh ground. We handle the replanting too.
